“Our recent trip to Morocco was absolutely wonderful, and working with Mohammed to plan it made the experience even better. My husband and I usually plan most of our own travel, but for certain destinations - such as India, Japan, and now Morocco—we prefer to working with local experts to help us customizie our itinerary exactly the way we want it. Our itinerary included: 2 nights in Marrakesh, 1 night in the Atlas Mountains, 1 night in the Sahara Desert, 2 nights in Fez, 1 night in Chefchaouen, 1 night in Casablanca and 1 final night in Marrakesh before flying home Marrakesh was lively and fast paced, full of energy and bustling souks (watch out for the motor bikes). The Atlas Mountains were calm and scenic, offering a peaceful break from the cities. The Sahara Desert was completely unique, especially riding camels across the dunes and staying in a luxury desert camp. Fez felt the most historic and intimate, with its ancient medina, deep traditions, and smaller, narrow alleys that made getting lost in one of its 9,000 passages a memorable experience. Chefchaouen was the most charming and visually striking with its blue washed streets set along a beautiful mountainside. Casablanca stood out as the most business like and somewhat gritty, offering a very different side of Morocco. We wanted to experience the diversity of Morocco rather than focus on just one or two cities, and having a private driver throughout the entire trip made this possible. It allowed us to travel comfortably, see the countryside, and truly appreciate the beauty of the country. Mohammed was a pleasure to work with - patient, responsive, and always willing to provide honest feedback. I asked many questions and requested numerous recommendations, and he consistently offered helpful guidance. I especially wanted to stay in riads for an authentic Moroccan experience, and his suggestions were excellent. One riad in Chefchaouen was fully booked, but he recommended an alternative with even better reviews, and it ended up being our favorite accommodation of the entire trip. Our favorite cities were Fez and Chefchaouen, and visiting the Sahara Desert is an absolute must. The camel ride and luxury desert camp were truly once in a lifetime experiences. We added a food tour in Fez at the last minute, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire trip. Our guide was warm, incredibly knowledgeable, and made the experience so much fun. She led us through the medina, stopping at hidden spots and local favorites where we tried an amazing variety of food. It was a memorable, delicious, and truly magical way to experience Fez. We did encounter a small hiccup with our driver, but Mohammed addressed the issue immediately and always kept our best interests in mind. Another thing that made us feel at ease is Mohammed is available if you should ever need to reach him during your trip. If you’re planning a trip to Morocco, I highly recommend working with Mohammed. He is a true travel expert, a joy to collaborate with, and will help you create the perfect itinerary for your needs. “What an amazing experience. My husband and I were looking to visit Morocco and were not keen on a self-drive (which I still do not recommend) and also did not want to join in a group. We did have the option of taking a private tour with a South African operator but decided on Tilila Travel through Insight Guides. It turned out to be the best choice. They helped us with the planning of the route, suggested sites and activities, arranged all the local guides, accommodation etc, and even arranged for a Moroccan sim card (which worked better than the E-sim in rural areas). Always very quick to respond to our request and help with the visa applications. Our personal guide Tawfiq met us at the airport, and was on call through the trip, for pickups and transfers, meeting with guides, suggesting restaurants, finding banks, warning us of scams – you name it. We were so pampered. But even better, from the start we told Tawfiq that we wanted to have an authentic experience, and that is what he gave us: - a meal with a Berber farmer and his family; cooking classes in a Marrakech home; a picnic Moroccan style among the Rabat locals, and so many tales and insights. He went beyond the itinerary so that we could experience the true Moroccan culture, away from the more touristic spots. Tawfiq treated us like royalty, and we felt safe in his charge . We will definitely use Tillia and Insight Guides again.”

We would highly recommend both Insight Guides and Tilila Travel to anyone who wants to delve into the culture and history of Morocco with attention to their personal interests.
