How does a tailor-made trip to Vietnam work?

Insight Guides uses your trip request to connect you with up to three vetted local travel experts in Vietnam . Each expert builds a proposal from your dates, priorities, pace, accommodation level, and budget. You can compare the itineraries, ask questions, and change individual parts before making a decision. You then accept and pay for the selected proposal through Insight Guides, while the chosen expert organizes and supports the trip locally.

What does a local Vietnam travel expert arrange?

In Vietnam, the local travel expert is responsible for designing and delivering the booked itinerary. The proposal lists the arranged accommodations, transportation, guides, activities, and other included services. The expert builds the schedule around regional weather, overnight travel, domestic flight schedules, and the distance between the country’s main sections. You can request revisions before accepting the proposal. Once the trip is confirmed, the expert coordinates the suppliers and provides the relevant contact information for support in the destination.

How many days do you need for Vietnam?

A 10- to 14-day trip gives most travelers a practical first experience of Vietnam. With one week, focus on one or two of the northern, central, and southern regions instead of trying to cover the whole country. With two weeks or more, travelers can add regions, slow the pace, or spend more time in nature and coastal areas. The right duration also depends on regional weather, overnight travel, domestic flight schedules, and the distance between the country’s main sections. A local expert can balance travel time against sightseeing and recommend the number of nights in each place.

Which parts of Vietnam can be combined in one trip?

Hanoi , Ha Long Bay , Ninh Binh, Hue , Hoi An , Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta can all form part of a tailor-made Vietnam itinerary, but they do not all belong in the same short trip. Hanoi, Ninh Binh and Ha Long Bay create a northern route. Hue and Hoi An pair in central Vietnam, while Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta form a southern section. The final combination depends on your available days, interests, and preferred pace. A local expert can sequence the stops, limit unnecessary backtracking, and explain where a flight, private transfer, or extra overnight stay improves the route.

When is the best time to visit Vietnam?

The best time to visit Vietnam depends on the regions and experiences included in the itinerary. February through April often provides the broadest balance of conditions, but Vietnam has several climate zones. Central Vietnam , the north, and the south experience different rainy and dry periods. Peak periods also affect accommodation and transportation availability. Tell the local expert what matters most, such as hiking, wildlife, beaches, cultural events, or lighter crowds. The expert can match the route and travel dates to regional conditions instead of relying on one national season.

How do you get around Vietnam?

Travel within Vietnam commonly uses domestic flights between north, central, and south Vietnam, trains for selected coastal journeys, and private cars, boats, or local transfers within each region. The most efficient combination depends on the route, available time, and comfort preferences. A local expert accounts for regional weather, overnight travel, domestic flight schedules, and the distance between the country’s main sections, then includes the agreed transportation in the proposal. This makes transfer days visible before booking and avoids an itinerary that looks compact on a map but requires excessive travel between overnight stops.

Where should I go in Vietnam?

For a first trip to Vietnam, Hanoi, central Vietnam, and Ho Chi Minh City make a varied 10-14 day route. From Hanoi, add Ninh Binh or Ha Long Bay before flying south to Hue and Hoi An, then finish in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta. With three weeks, explore the mountains of northern Vietnam or add beach time. A tailor-made trip can combine private transfers, trains, and domestic flights while adapting the route to your interests and keeping long travel days to a minimum.
