Broadgate
This long established ice-rink moved to its new home last year in Exchange Square and returns again from the 17th of November. London’s longest standing outdoor rink in the very heart of the city of London is a great place to skate this winter. Adjoining the rink is the luxury pop-up bar and restaurant the Tasting Room with a terrace overlooking the ice and offers tasty treats, craft beers and winter warmers that pose as the perfect accomplishment to your skate.
Hyde Park Winter Wonderland
Come November the 21st Hyde Park is once again the setting for Winter Wonderland – a hub of fairy lights, sparkle and all round Christmas merriment. With the Christmas market, Ice Kingdom, Santa’s grotto, fairground rides and the aroma of mulled wine, spices and the classic Christmas songs fill the air, you will be hard pressed to find a place that better encapsulates the sprit of Christmas. Skate here at the UK’s biggest outdoor rink and although there is no minimum age, under-12’s must be accompanied by someone older than 16. Ice-skates are available to hire, up to size 13 for adults and size 9 for children.
Natural History Museum Ice-Rink
A truly enchanting ice-rink set in front of the Alfred Waterhouse’s Natural History Museum buildings. The main rink is 1,000 square meters and there is a smaller side area for children and those less confident. At the centre is a large Christmas tree adorned with lights adding further to the glorious magical setting, gliding you into the festive season. Sessions usually begin on the hour and last 50 minutes.
Somerset House
Set in the beautiful eighteenth century courtyard, the Somerset House rink is another example of a perfect setting for outdoor ice-skating. This exquisite location boasts a 900 square-foot rink with Fortnum & Mason offering many a seasonal experience alongside including a Christmas Arcade, a pop-up version of the Fortnum & Mason Piccadilly store. Also on offer are a range of indulgent treats at the Fortnum Lodge such as Champagne and cream teas. The rink is also host to a range of after dark events and exclusive club nights.
Winterville Ice-Rink
Victoria Park, as part of its seasonal town, holds a 600 square-foot ice rink and is a great place to skate and be merry this winter! To warm yourself after, take a trip into the town to the food and drink sector where they are many wintery offerings from various street food sellers, food traders, to an on-site pub and a hot cider stand. Lockers are available to hire for £2 and for children Penguin skater aids for £5. Sessions start at 30 minutes past the hour and last for 45 minutes. Skates are included in the price of the ticket.
